Cooking gas prices have jumped again in Abuja and surrounding areas during the Eid-ul-Adha festivities. This marks the second spike in just three days.
A market check found that a kilogram now costs between N1700 and N1800. Prices had been N1500 only days before.
That means consumers face increases of N200 to N300 per kilogram. The latest surge happened just two days after another price adjustment.
Three days ago, the price went from N1200 to N1500 per kilogram. So in 72 hours, costs have climbed by roughly 50 percent.
The Nigerian Association of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketers blamed the sudden increases on supply shortages. They've called on government to step in and help stabilize the market.
