Lawmaker-elect promises purposeful representation for Delta constituents

Mr Matthew Omonade, member-elect for Ughelli North I Constituency in the Delta House of Assembly, has assured of purposeful representation for his constituents.

Omonade said this when he spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Asaba.

He promised to prioritise his constituents’ welfare by sponsoring bills that would enhance development of the people.

“As a legislator, I will represent the dreams and aspirations of the people of Ughelli Constituency I.

”I will establish constituency offices to enable me have platform to interface with my people,” he said.

Omonade said that the main responsibility of a lawmaker was to make laws for peace, order and good governance.

Omonade, who was elected on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) pledged to participate actively in law making, oversight functions and other assignments that would fast track the development of the state.

”The very day you take oath of office to represent the people of Delta, you do not play party or politics.

”Your actions, your inactions must be tilted towards policies that will add value and impact the lives of the people of Delta,” Omonade said.

“The Executive arm is also there to perform its responsibilities, while the legislative arm is also there to perform its functions.

”We will all come together to see how we can synergize while we maintain our independence in ensuring that the right policies are in place to impact on the lives of the people.”

Omonade recalled how he made up his mind in 2018 to join politics not because he was looking for source of livelihood, but because he wanted to add value to the lives of his people.

“I attempted in 2018, but didn’t win. I stood my ground and kept on fighting and today by the grace of God.

‘’I have emerged and I have been given the mantle to represent my constituency,” he said.
