Labour Party's Benue State leader Philip Agbese says his party is now the strongest opposition force in the state. Agbese made the claim on Saturday at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja after returning from South Africa.

He spoke to journalists and supporters who came to receive him. The federal lawmaker represents Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo in the National Assembly.

"We are the biggest opposition party in Benue State today," Agbese told reporters. According to him, recent political shifts across Nigeria have boosted Labour Party's standing in the state.

He expressed confidence ahead of 2027 general elections. "I say boldly that 2027 is in the hands of God's people," the lawmaker noted.

Agbese outlined Labour Party's campaign strategy for upcoming polls. He said the party will adopt what he called a "quasi-civil, people-oriented" approach.

Issues, not attacks, will drive their campaign message. "Our campaign as a party will be issue-based," he explained to reporters.

"There will be zero attack on the government and public institutions," Agbese added. He stressed the Labour Party would focus on practical solutions instead of empty promises.

His strategy includes town hall meetings across the state. Agbese said the party plans to develop practical policies tailored to Benue residents' needs.

He highlighted agriculture, infrastructure, healthcare, and youth employment as priority areas. These programmes, he noted, will create real job opportunities for young people.

Agbese reflected on his work as a federal representative. "We have worked hard to deliver on our mandate," he told journalists at the airport.

He cited legislative interventions and constituency projects in his three federal constituencies. These initiatives, he said, are already improving lives in communities he represents.

Building on current achievements remains central to his vision. Quality governance and sustainable development will guide the Labour Party's direction, Agbese stressed.

His experience in the legislature has shaped his policy priorities. Rural communities and farming populations will get special attention, he promised.

Labour Party candidates will solve problems, not create division, Agbese declared. "Benue people deserve leaders who solve problems, not create more division," he said.

He called on citizens who support good governance to back Labour Party. This election cycle will define Benue's future, according to the lawmaker.

Agbese urged residents to take control of their own destiny. Active participation in the democratic process is essential, he told supporters gathered at the airport.
