Five prominent Nigerians have picked nomination forms from the Labour Party ahead of the 2027 general elections. They include former Information Minister Labaran Maku and Senator Ishaku Abbo.

Maku will contest for Nasarawa North Senatorial District. Abbo is running for Adamawa State governor.

Emmanuel Ben picked the governorship form for Akwa Ibom State. Adamu Bako Blanzou will contest for the House of Representatives seat representing Akwanga/Nasarawa Eggon/Wamba Federal Constituency.

Hon. Jesse James Ayenajeh obtained his form for Toto Federal Constituency in Nasarawa State.

All five aspirants collected their documents at the party secretariat.

They represent a broader wave of candidates from across Nigeria seeking Labour Party tickets. Both northern and southern regions have sent representatives to pick nomination forms.

Shortly after collecting his papers, Maku spoke with journalists about his ambitions. He expressed complete confidence in Labour Party's electoral prospects.

"The Labour Party has won the hearts of Nigerians and will win the 2027 elections," he told reporters. According to him, this victory will span from the presidency down to governorship races.

Maku noted the party's strong presence in Nasarawa State particularly. He said residents there are determined to deliver the party's victory in senatorial and other state elections.

In his words, "The party has firmly established itself as a household name in many states." He emphasized the momentum building in his senatorial district.

Senator Abbo also weighed in on the party's trajectory. He commended Nenadi Usman, the Labour Party National Chairman, for revitalizing the organization.

Abbo noted the party's growing momentum across Adamawa State. He expressed optimism about Labour Party's chances throughout the North-East region as well.

The senator praised Usman's leadership in repositioning the party. According to him, this leadership has transformed Labour Party's fortunes significantly.
