Kogi: Group calls for expulsion of Sen Adeyemi from APC

By Stephen Adeleye

A socio-political group known as Ijumu APC Progressive Minds, has called for immediate expulsion of Sen. Smart Adeyemi from the party over alleged false and frivolous claims against it

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the group are APC members from the political ward, communities in Ijumu Local Government Area, where Adeyemi hails from.

The group’s President, Mr Toyin Kamaldeen, who made the call at a news conference on Tuesday in Lokoja, also said the Friday’s APC Governorship Primary was the fairest and the freest ever.

Adeyemi, who represents Kogi West, and contested for the governorship ticket for the All-Progressive’s Party (APC) had cried foul over the Saturday APC guber primary.

He claimed that no voting process took place in Kogi on April 14 as primary election for the governorship seat of the APC.

Adeyemi had on Monday in a TV programme claimed that no primary election of the APC took place in Lokoja on that April 14.

“None of us had the privilege to vote because there was no voting anywhere in Kogi,” he said.

He claimed that what the ruling Government did was that they simply wrote the result, which in essence was a shame, a rape of democracy, a disgrace, a betrayal of all those who laid down their lives for the enthronement of democracy in Nigeria.

But the group, which disagreed with Adeyemi, urged the APC in Ijumu Local Government Area to immediately commence expulsion proceedings against Adeyemi  alleging that he had become cancerous to our party.

“This conference has become imperative to set the record straight in the face of the glaring misinformation and blatant falsehood being circulated by the thoroughly defeated Sen. Smart Adeyemi.

”As a people, we are not surprised that Senator Smart Adeyemi is attacking Gov. Yahaya Bello today.

The group maintained that April 14 APC Governorship Primary was the fairest and the freest ever and commended Gov. Bello Matawalle and his team for the standard process.

To them, that APC governorship primary election was devoid of rancour and violence as the financial members of the party expressed their power and right to nominate the candidate of their choice.

According to the group, Adeyemi’s desperate attempt to fault the process was borne out of his desperation to work with certain elements, whose satanic agenda is to ensure our dear party is unable to present a candidate for the Nov. 11 governorship poll in the state.
