Kenneth Okonkwo, an ADC stalwart, claims Peter Obi fled the party due to fear of open primary contests. Speaking on ARISE News Wednesday, the ex-actor insisted ideological rifts didn't drive the 2023 Labour Party candidate's departure.

According to Okonkwo, Obi's real concern was avoiding competitive elections. "Peter Obi is afraid of free and fair primary elections," he told the station.

Okonkwo argued that Obi cited various challenges as reasons for leaving. But the actual motivation, he contended, was dodging primary battles altogether.

The ADC chieftain painted a pattern throughout Obi's political history. "He has never been in one, and he will not be in one until he finishes his political career," Okonkwo stated.

He suggested Obi preferred backroom deals to open contests. Negotiations and political arrangements have been his go-to strategy, according to the politician.

Okonkwo dismissed other explanations for the split as secondary. His core argument remained unchanged: Obi simply wanted to avoid the primary process entirely.
