Gov. Nasir Idris of Kebbi has disengaged all political appointees of his predecessor. He also announced the appointment of eight principal officers.

Press Secretary to the governor, Alhaji Ahmed Idris, stated in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday that the governor appointed him and appointed a Chief of Staff, a Secretary to the State Government and a Personal Assistant.

Gov. Idris also appointed a Special Adviser (New Media), a Senior Special Assistant (New Media), a Senior Special Assistant on Protocol, and a Special Adviser on Media and Publicity.

Idris explained that all appointments were based on merit and track records of the appointees, adding that the appointments took effect from May 29.

“The governor challenged the appointees to regard their appointments as call to service and to do their best to justify the confidence reposed in them,’’ he stated.
