Abubakar Malami, the former Attorney General of the Federation, has thrown his hat into the ring for Kebbi's 2027 governorship race. He submitted his nomination and expression of interest forms to the African Democratic Congress on Thursday.

Mohammed Bello Doka, Malami's media aide, confirmed the development in a statement. According to him, the forms were lodged at the ADC National Secretariat in Abuja.

Malami's governorship bid has already set political tongues wagging across Kebbi State. The move comes as campaigns intensify ahead of the 2027 elections.

He's already begun shuttle diplomacy across all 21 local government areas of the state. These consultations are aimed at consolidating backing for his ambition.

In his earlier remarks, Malami outlined his agenda for the state. Security, agriculture, infrastructure, education, and healthcare topped his list of priorities.

According to him, insecurity and economic hardship have plagued Kebbi for too long. He believes good governance can turn things around.

Malami chose the ADC because of its values, he said. The party, in his view, champions accountability, inclusivity, and genuine development.

His entry into the race marks a significant moment in Kebbi's political calendar. The 2027 election battle is clearly heating up.
