Katsina State Governor Urges Federal Support Against Banditry

Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, has called for further intervention and support from the Federal government in the area of security in order to tackle the spate of banditry bedevilling the state.

During a recent visit to the Birchi community of Kurfi local government area, Governor Radda addressed protesters who were expressing their grievances over a recent bandits’ attack on the nearby Wurma community.

The attack resulted in the loss of lives, as well as the destruction of a health facility, a police outpost, houses, and vehicles.

In his statement, Governor Radda emphasized the need for the federal government to assist the state in the ongoing war against banditry and other security challenges.

He announced that the state government will mobilize 100 security personnel to the affected community and provide them with daily sustenance.

“Your protest is genuine and I feel for you, but please remain calm as government is doing all it can to stop this.

Words cannot express the profound grief I feel for the families who have lost loved ones in this senseless act of violence,” said Governor Radda.

The Governor also expressed his determination to work with security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators and restore peace and security to the state.

He called on the residents of the affected communities to support the state’s Community Watch Corps members and conventional security agencies in tackling the issue of banditry.

Governor Radda’s appeal for federal support and intervention highlights the urgency of the security situation in Katsina State.

It is crucial for the federal government to provide the necessary assistance to the state government in order to effectively combat the issue of banditry and restore peace to the region.
