Senator Rufa'i Sani Hanga of Kano Central stepped back from his Senate ticket. He handed it to Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna to preserve unity within the Kwankwasiyya Movement and the NDC.

Hanga disclosed his decision during an interview with DC Hausa. He explained that party consultations shaped the move to strengthen their electoral prospects.

"When Gawuna expressed interest in joining us, we assessed his standing carefully," the senator said. "His political weight, his base, and his track record all counted in our favour."

According to him, winning elections mattered more than personal ambition. "We cannot demand that one person must have the ticket if victory is what we seek," Hanga noted.

Party leadership agreed that Gawuna should contest for Kano Central, and he accepted immediately. Hanga confirmed the arrangement followed proper consultations among all stakeholders.

His ultimate ambition remains unchanged: Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso must capture Kano State. He believes Kwankwaso can eventually become Nigeria's Vice President and then President.

Hanga insisted the selection process treated all aspirants with fairness. "Every faction was heard, every person mattered, and no group faced discrimination," he told reporters.

He pledged unwavering support for Kwankwaso regardless of circumstances. "I'm standing with him because he fights for ordinary citizens," Hanga said.

Party officials, including Hanga himself, participated in all nomination discussions. His endorsement of Gawuna's candidacy was neither forced nor surprising, he stressed.

Movement members will now focus on delivering victory for the NDC. Their commitment extends to advancing Kano State's development through shared sacrifice.
