Tensions have eased within the National Democratic Congress in Kano State after national party leadership stepped in to broker peace.
A dispute had erupted following the entry of former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso into the party's fold.
Senator Seriake Henry Dickson, the party's national leader, convened an urgent meeting on Tuesday to resolve matters.
Kwankwaso attended alongside Engr. Muhammad Sabo Bakin Zuwo, the Vice Chairman for the Northwest region, along with other senior party figures.
After extensive deliberations, officials reached consensus on a single key point: Husaini Isah Mai Riga would remain as Kano State Chairman.
Adam Said Adam, the state chapter's social media director, issued a statement confirming the resolution.
He praised Kwankwaso's political maturity and statesmanship during negotiations. The former governor played a crucial role in preserving party unity, Adam noted.
Mai Riga expressed gratitude to Senator Dickson and Kwankwaso for their support. He also thanked residents of Kano for standing by him.
In a show of reconciliation, the chairman apologized to anyone he may have wronged in recent days.
He called the resolution proof of the party's leadership wisdom and political maturity.
Mai Riga urged party members to look forward. "We must focus on elections ahead," he implied through his statement.
He sought divine intervention for the NDC's success at all levels. Electoral victory in coming polls remains the party's priority, he added.
Finally, Mai Riga prayed for peace and national development across Nigeria.
