Kano State government says federal backing has been crucial to its progress in infrastructure, education, and healthcare. Commissioner for Information Ibrahim Waiya made this known while journalists toured development projects in the North-West zone.
Federal initiatives like the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano superhighway are transforming lives across the state, he noted. According to Waiya, the Zaria-Kano section has cut travel time significantly and spurred economic growth.
"This is a federal road that matters greatly to us," the commissioner told reporters. Commuters now travel more comfortably, even at night, especially around Dawakin Tofa heading into Kano, he added.
Works Commissioner Marwan Aminu said Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf's administration is executing major projects through increased federal funds and internally generated revenue. The state is constructing multi-billion naira flyover bridges at Dan Agundi and Tal'udu to combat traffic gridlock.
Tal'udu junction ranks among Kano's most congested areas. A partial cloverleaf flyover under construction there will resolve roughly 80% of traffic problems in that commercial hub.
Both officials say partnerships between state and federal authorities are delivering results on the ground. The superhighway project nears completion as construction crews accelerate work across multiple sections.
Journalists observed the infrastructure sites during the Presidential Media Team's fact-finding visit. Officials highlighted how better roads and bridges are improving movement and business activities throughout the state.
Governor Yusuf's team remains committed to transforming Kano's urban landscape, Aminu stressed. Completion of these major projects will further ease transportation challenges across the commercial centre.
