Three men are now in custody following arrests by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Kano State. Officers nabbed them over cable theft and tricycle hijacking cases.
SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, the command's spokesperson, made this known in a statement on Tuesday. He outlined details of separate criminal incidents across the state.
Two suspects were arrested in Yunfawa, within Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area. They were caught removing electrical cables belonging to the Kano Electricity Distribution Company.
About 300 metres of KEDCO cables were recovered from the pair. Officers said the men had been stripping the wires for illegal sale.
A third arrest happened along the Kofar Waika to Kofar Dawanau route in central Kano. This suspect allegedly stole a commercial tricycle, locally called Adaidaita Sahu.
According to the NSCDC, the vehicle was parked roadside with a female passenger inside. Its rider had momentarily stepped away when the theft occurred.
Investigators are currently examining evidence in all three cases. Abdullahi noted that charges will follow once preliminary investigations wrap up.
All suspects will face court proceedings, the command assured. It didn't specify when court dates might be set.
