Kaduna State Government Denies Fresh $17.69 Million Loan Allegations

The Kaduna State Government has refuted recent allegations of obtaining a fresh $17.69 million loan, stating that the claims are false and fabricated.

In a press statement released on Thursday, the state Commissioner for Finance, Shizzer Bada, clarified that no such loan has been approved or received by the government.

Bada emphasized that Governor Uba Sani has not entered into any agreement or received any foreign loan as claimed.

She highlighted the legal provisions outlined in relevant statutes, particularly the Debt Management Office (Establishment, Etc.) Act, 2003, which mandates that no external loan can be approved or obtained without prior presentation of its terms and conditions to the National Assembly for approval.

The commissioner urged the public to disregard the report and resist being misinformed, assuring that the Kaduna State Government remains committed to transparency and accountability in its financial dealings.

In the statement, Bada reiterated that the state government is fully aware of the importance of adhering to the legal framework governing external borrowing by government entities in Nigeria.

She emphasized that the government’s actions in this regard are guided by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and other relevant laws.

As the Kaduna State Government continues to work towards development and progress, the clarification provided by the Commissioner for Finance serves as a reminder of the government’s commitment to transparency and responsible financial management.
