The Coalition for Jonathan is standing firm on one position: the former president will run in 2027.
Dr Tom Ohikere, who leads the coalition, made this declaration on Arise Television on Friday. His comments came just a day after Jonathan himself hinted at exploring the possibility.
Ohikere clarified what Jonathan meant in his earlier statement. "When he said it's not a computer game, he wasn't rejecting the idea," the coalition convener explained.
Running for president is complex, Ohikere noted. It demands serious preparation and a comprehensive process, he added.
According to him, Jonathan will definitely appear on the 2027 ballot. The former leader hasn't officially accepted the coalition's proposal yet, he acknowledged.
A final decision from Jonathan could come within the next day or two. "In the fullness of time, he will make his position clear," Ohikere said.
Ohikere himself belongs to the African Democratic Congress party. He used the platform to urge Nigerians to support Jonathan's return to politics.
The coalition believes the former president is the right leader Nigeria needs today. They're convinced his experience will benefit the nation in 2027.
