The Jigawa State House of Assembly has recorded significant achievements in the last one year, including over 180 sittings, 27 resolutions, and the passage of 19 bills into law.
The Speaker, Rt Hon Haruna Aliyu, highlighted these accomplishments while emphasizing the assembly's commitment to promoting synergy with the executive, judiciary, and media to improve the socio-economic life of Jigawa citizens and foster sustainable democratic development.
The assembly conducted a series of oversight functions to ensure public accountability in all aspects. The speaker stated that the resolutions and laws passed had supported the governance reform initiated by Governor Umar Namadi through his 12-point agenda aimed at making Jigawa prosperous and great.
Some of the laws passed in the last one year include the establishment of the State Polytechnic of Information and Technology Kazaure, the Basic Health Insurance Scheme, and the Senior Secondary School Board.
Other notable laws include the State Economic Empowerment and Youth Employment Agency Law, the State Bureau of Statistics (Amendment No.1) Law, the Economic Planning Board (Amendment No.1) Law, the State House of Assembly Service Commission Law, and the Revised Local Government Appropriation Law and State appropriation Law.
Additionally, the assembly passed laws for the Primary Health Development Agency (Amendment), the Jigawa State Contributory Health Care Management Agency Law, the State Information Technology and Digital Economy Agency Law, and the State Resident Identity Management Agency Law.
The speaker assured the people of Jigawa State that the assembly is committed to working within its constitutional jurisdiction for the peace, unity, and progress of the state.
