Senator Ireti Heebah Kingibe has clinched the African Democratic Congress ticket for FCT's Senate seat in 2027.

She won the party primary decisively with 17,535 votes. Her lone rival, Mubarak Tijjani, managed just 806 votes.

Returning officer Abubakar Adamu announced the results at ADC headquarters in Abuja on Thursday. "Senator Ireti Heebah Kingibe is hereby declared winner of the election," he announced.

Kingibe's overwhelming victory signals strong backing within the party. The margin suggests little internal resistance to her candidacy.

Observers in the FCT political circle view her nomination as a strategic move by ADC leadership. Party insiders say she brings both experience and grassroots appeal.

The primary also settled races for two House of Representatives seats in the territory. Bala Iyah won in AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency with 4,937 votes.

Iyah's closest challenger, Yahaya Fatima Goya, polled 2,015 votes. Two other contestants trailed far behind in the race.

For Abaji/Gwagwalada/Kwali/Kuje Federal Constituency, Alhassan Salihu emerged victorious with 9,016 votes. Khalid A.

Haruna came second with 2,955 votes.

Independent National Electoral Commission officials supervised the entire primary exercise. Their presence aimed to guarantee transparency and credibility.

After his win, Bala Iyah expressed optimism about ADC's prospects in 2027. He described himself as deeply rooted in the constituency with strong community connections.

ADC now moves toward general elections with its slate complete for FCT positions. Campaign activities are expected to intensify in coming months.
