Ireland has opened its doors to foreign workers from countries outside the European Economic Area, including Nigeria, to fill its labor shortage.
This move comes as a response to the country’s critical skills shortage in various sectors such as production management, ICT, health and social services management, natural and social sciences, engineering, information technology, and telecommunications.
The Irish government has introduced the Critical Skills Employment Permit, which targets skilled workers in professions experiencing a shortage of qualifications and experience required for the proper functioning of the Irish economy.
This permit is valid for two years, after which the skilled workers can apply for a Stamp 4 permission to live and work in Ireland without an employment permit.
The application process involves obtaining permission to work in Ireland, typically through an employment permit.
The fee for this is €1,000, and if the application is refused, a refund of 90% of the application fee is applicable.
