Imo Assembly Screens Emelumba, Nwosu, and Others as Commissioner Nominees

On March 7, 2024, the Imo State House of Assembly conducted a screening of eleven commissioner nominees sent to the House by the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma.

The screening was conducted by the Speaker of the State Assembly, Chike Olemgbe, at the hallowed chamber of the Imo state House of Assembly complex in Owerri.

Among the screened nominees were immediate past commissioners for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, Commissioner for Works, Ralph Nwosu, and Commissioner for Digital Economy, Chimezie Amadi.

The nominees were screened in batches, and one of the nominees, Mrs Nkechi Ugwu, was screened virtually as she was not in the country.

The names of the nominees who appeared for the screening, as announced by the Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Olemgbe, include; Hon. Declan Emelumba, Hon. Chimezie Amadi, Barr. Ralph Nwosu, Hon. Bede Ekeh, Chief Cosmas Madauba, Dr Sir Chika Benson Abazu, Ozo Obinna Ogwuegbu, Hon. Osakwe Modestus, Hon. Anyanwu Anselem Ezechinyere, Barr. Emenike Ejikeme chuks major, and Hon. Onyeoha Obinna Evaristus.

The screening process took place at the Imo state House of Assembly complex, located along Port Harcourt road in Owerri.

This is a significant step in the appointment of new commissioners in the state, as it ensures that only qualified individuals are appointed to serve in the state government.
