IGP Orders Enhanced Security at Airports, Rail Stations, and Motorparks for Easter Celebrations

In preparation for the Easter celebrations, Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun has ordered round-the-clock security and protection of public spaces across Nigeria.

This directive includes increased security measures at airports, rail stations, motorparks, and other critical infrastructures.

The IGP has tasked State Commissioners of Police (CPs) and their supervising Zonal Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) to deploy police personnel and operational assets to areas of likely security threats within their respective areas of responsibility (AoRs).

Intensive and proactive visibility patrols will be conducted at all worship centers, train stations, highways, motor parks, airports, waterways, recreation centers, banks, and other financial institutions.

The IGP has reassured Nigerians of the Police Force’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens and visitors during the Easter celebrations.

He emphasized the importance of professional conduct among police officers deployed for these duties, maintaining firmness and ruthlessness towards criminal elements seeking to exploit the festive period for their unlawful activities.

As the nation celebrates the crucifixion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the IGP has called on citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest Police Station/Post.

He also extended his felicitations to the Christian community and expressed gratitude for the public’s support in collaborating with the Nigeria Police and other security agencies in preventing and detecting crime.

With these enhanced security measures in place, Nigerians can look forward to a safe and peaceful Easter celebration, allowing them to focus on the true meaning of the holiday and the spirit of unity and vigilance it represents.
