A Southeast political group has pledged to reshape Igboland's electoral landscape ahead of 2027. AlaIgbo Political Watchdog, or APW, says it'll back only honest, capable candidates in the coming general elections.
Prince Ben Ahanonu, speaking for the organization, released a statement on Wednesday outlining their mission. He explained that APW exists to push for strong, dependable leadership across the region.
To reach this goal, the group has built a platform open to all aspiring politicians. Party affiliation won't matter, according to Ahanonu's remarks.
"AlaIgbo existed long before modern political parties came into being," the statement read. For this reason, no party can truly develop the zone unless its leaders show real integrity and genuine commitment.
Ahanonu noted that APW will throw its weight behind candidates who embrace transparency. Self-serving ambitions have no place in their endorsement criteria.
Leaders with a solid history of public service will get the group's support. Once elected, such candidates must remain connected and accessible to their people, APW insisted.
The organization drew inspiration from the late Sam Mbakwe's model of selfless public service. Only politicians willing to follow that legacy deserve backing, they argued.
APW made clear it favors those rewarding hard work and excellence over mediocrity. The group is now welcoming applications from interested aspirants.
"Present your vision and your roadmap to us," the statement invited candidates. After thorough internal evaluation, APW promised to champion the strongest option to voters.
