I am in Edo Guber race to teach politicians how to govern -Elder Curtis Ugbo

An Edo 2024 Governorship hopeful and President Benin Solidarity Movement ( BSM), Elder Curtis Eghosa Ugbo has called on the electorate to look out for a credible candidate that has the people’s aspirations at heart and has respect for traditional institutions.

Elder Ugbo made this call while speaking with journalists in Benin City on his governorship ambition and developmental policies he is bringing on board.

Elder Ugbo disclosed that his intention to run for governorship come 2024 is borne out of his desire to rescue his people from untold hardship and teach people in leadership position how to govern well.

” Governance is about reaching the masses and the grassroot people. My team and I are coming out to teach them how to govern a state. The Edo of my dream is to see that both the young and elderly have all the basic amenities to live a better life. I want a better Edo like Dubai. It’s people that made Dubai to be what it is today. It’s not all about stealing money and causing hardship for the people “.

The governorship hopeful said that under his leadership education, agriculture, commerce, power, road infrastructure and other things that will enhance the lives of Edo residents will be given priority.

” We’ll make sure Edo children get quality education; bursary and scholarships will be made available for our youths. Agriculture and commerce will also get attention. Soft loans will be made available for business while markets will be rehabilitated to generally boost economic activities in the state. Our markets today are an eye sore; everywhere is littered and smelly. People will be employed to clean up the markets at night.

There are places in the state that is overdue for a flyover, my administration will build flyovers to safe guard the lives of the people and help control traffic. Traditional institutions will be given their pride of place. It is the law that established the Benin Traditional Council and they have their role to play to drive development. They’ll be accorded due recognition under my leadership”.

On health, Elder Ugbo said ” quality, accessible and affordable healthcare will be delivered to the people because Edo people deserve the best. Other people friendly healthcare policies will also be developed for the overall good of the people”.

The governorship Aspirant disclosed that revenue will be internally sourced to compliment the federal allocation to execute people oriented projects as people will willingly pay their taxes when there are infrastructures to show for it.

While lamenting the bad state of roads in the state, Elder Ugbo took a swipe on those at the helms of affairs in the state noting that when he becomes governor both federal and state roads will receive attention as much as it is his people that are using the roads.

“When I become governor, both federal and state roads will get fixed because it’s my people that are using these roads while the federal government will make refunds. The other day, food stuffs perished on their way to the state because of the bad state of roads”.

On staffs who were displaced from the defunct College of Education, Ekiadolorbwhi claimed to be owed backlog of salaries, Elder Ugbo said enquires will be made to verify their claims and if found to be true.
