Inuwa Usman Wa'aganda, chairman of Hong Local Government Council in Adamawa State, has raised the alarm over persistent insurgent attacks terrorizing communities across the area. Over the past year, Hong has become Adamawa's most violence-affected local government.

Multiple attacks have been reported this month alone. The situation has forced many residents to abandon their homes.

At a ceremony held at Hong LGA headquarters to honour military personnel from the area, Wa'aganda called for urgent action. "Our hearts are heavy because of the insecurity that burdens us," he said.

According to the council chairman, farmers fear returning to their fields as the planting season approaches. Displacement has become widespread across Hong.

Wa'aganda urged the military officers being honoured to use their connections and influence to restore peace. "Make the necessary contacts and ensure the return of security to your fatherland," he told them.

The Huba Chiefdom, Hong's paramount traditional institution, organized the reception for serving and retired military and para-military officers. Alheri Bulus Nyako, the Tol Huba, presided over the event.

In his remarks, Nyako praised the officers for bringing honour to their community. "You have brought honour to us and we are proud of you," he noted.

The paramount ruler acknowledged their sacrifices and said the chiefdom decided to celebrate them. However, he expressed deep concern about repeated Boko Haram attacks in recent months.

Nyako called on the federal government to take decisive action against the insurgents. He urged stronger measures to end the violence plaguing his chiefdom.

Held at Hong Township Stadium, the reception drew prominent citizens and elder statesmen from across the area. Major General Haldu Hananiya (rtd), 82, chaired the occasion.

Hananiya noted that honouring military personnel—both serving and retired, including the fallen—motivates greater national service. Such recognition, he added, strengthens commitment to the country.

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, represented by his Commissioner for Culture and Tourism Istifanus Babadoke, commended the honourees. According to the governor, these servicemen and women deserve recognition for their sacrifices.

Fintiri said some have given their lives in service to Nigeria. Adamawa State, he noted, is proud to have produced such dedicated personnel.
