Three young men have been killed and a teenage girl shot during an attack by suspected Fulani bandits at a leisure spot in Barkin Ladi local government area of Plateau State. Counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama reported the incident in a security briefing covering the Lake Chad region.
Troops from Sector 4, Operation Enduring Peace, responded to gunfire reports around 7:58pm on July 4, 2026, near Rantiya community. They discovered three bodies at the scene and found the girl bleeding from gunshot wounds.
Medical teams evacuated the deceased to General Hospital in Barkin Ladi for documentation. The injured girl received emergency care at Damlak Clinic, according to the security report.
Makama said soldiers have launched tracking operations to hunt down the fleeing assailants. "Security agencies have opened investigations into the attack while working to restore peace and prevent further incidents in the area," the report noted.
