The Kwara North Development Council (KWANDCO) has praised the Federal Government for approving the construction some of some major roads in the area.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the Federal Executive Council (FEC) at its meeting on Wednesday listed four roads in Kwara North,  totaling 284km, to be constructed in partnership with the BUA Group under public -private arrangement.

KWANDCO, in a statement issued on Thursday, by its Chairman, Mr Ahmed Muhammad, described as commendable the listing of the four roads among federal projects using the President’s Executive Order 7 under the Infrastructure Tax Credit Scheme.

“We, on behalf of the people of Kwara North, Kwara State and the commuting public want to appreciate the APC and President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government heeding the plight of the people of the area and indeed the commuting public.

“We want to use this medium to appeal to the BUA Group to ensure speedy commencement and quality work.

“We urge the BUA to consider the plight of the people in the captured areas as the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari continuity and completion in good time can only be guaranteed when the projects are properly funded,”  the chairman added.

The group also commended the Kwara State Governor, Malam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq ,and other relevant stakeholders for their role in ensuring the roads got the FEC attention and approval.

KWANDCO said that the completion of the roads would breathe life into the social and economic dynamism of Kwara North which is the agricultural epicentre of the state, supplying agricultural produce in large quantities to the South-West and other parts of the country.

The roads, as approved by FEC,  are Kosubosu – Kaiama – Bode-Saadu (130km); Bacita – Tsonga – Lafiagi (83km); Eyenkorin – Afon – Offa – Odo Ottin (49km) and Okuta – Bukuro (32km).
