Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State took Engr Mustapha Gubio to meet President Tinubu at Aso Rock on Saturday.
Gubio is the APC's gubernatorial candidate for the state. His spokesman, Dauda Iliya, confirmed the visit to journalists in Maiduguri.
Party stakeholders had backed Gubio as their sole flagbearer earlier this week. He was officially affirmed as the APC's candidate on Thursday.
At the presidential villa, Zulum praised Tinubu's efforts in the Northeast. According to him, the President's work on "peace and reconstruction" has been steady and unwavering.
Zulum noted that Tinubu's leadership has strengthened APC unity. He credited the President with advancing progressive governance across the region.
A member of the House of Representatives, Engr Bukar Talba, joined the governor on the trip. The delegation sought to formally present Gubio to Nigeria's number one citizen.
