Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has picked his nomination form for the 2027 governorship race with the All Progressives Congress. His spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, announced the move in a statement on Tuesday.
Senator Ibrahim Shekarau and Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin joined the governor at the submission. Several House members and other prominent citizens from Kano also attended the event.
Speaking to journalists afterward, Governor Yusuf called his second-term bid a fresh mandate. He told reporters his administration remains committed to serving Kano's people better.
Urban renewal will expand across towns and cities in the state, he promised. Road construction, drainage systems, and market upgrades will get more funding going forward.
Rural areas won't be left behind in his development plans. According to him, feeder roads, water projects, healthcare facilities, and educational institutions in communities need urgent attention.
The governor pledged stronger backing for farmers and young entrepreneurs seeking support. Job creation for youth would sit at the heart of his next term's agenda, he assured.
Education and healthcare remain critical sectors for improvement. Governor Yusuf stressed that his administration would push harder to deliver better services in both areas.
He emphasized that unity and inclusive governance guide his leadership approach. Working together with stakeholders would help move the state forward, he noted.
Aligning with President Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda matters for Kano's growth. The governor said this strategy would help attract more federal investments and opportunities to the state.
Kano residents have shown him tremendous support over time. In his words, he would repay their confidence through transparent governance and development that puts people first.
