Governor Sanwo-Olu Reaffirms Commitment to Women’s Development in Lagos State

Celebrating International Women’s Day (IWD) in Lagos, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to women’s development and inclusiveness in the state.

The event, held on March 8, 2024, was organized by the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation in partnership with some local governments.

The theme of this year’s IWD, “Count Her In: Accelerating Gender Equality Through Economic Empowerment.

Inspire Inclusion,” highlighted the importance of empowering women economically to achieve gender equality.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, represented by his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, emphasized the need for the private sector to partner with the government in creating programs that would elevate women in the state.

The governor’s wife, Mrs. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, encouraged women to remain dedicated in their respective endeavors, stating that prosperity can be found in any profession as long as one stays focused.

She also stressed the importance of informal education and training for children, as it contributes to building a better society.

Keynote speaker Prof. Mopelola Omoegun emphasized the significance of education and urged women to acquire the necessary knowledge and education to position themselves for success.

She also called for the training of all children, irrespective of gender, to ensure a brighter future for the next generation.

The event was an opportunity for women in Lagos State to celebrate their achievements and reaffirm their commitment to building their families and the nation.

Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration has made significant strides in empowering women, and their continued dedication to women’s development and inclusiveness is a testament to their commitment to a better future for all.
