Governor Sani: No Borrowing Despite $587 Million, N85 Billion Debts in Kaduna State

Governor Uba Sani revealed that despite inheriting a massive debt of $587 million, N85 billion, and 115 contractual liabilities from the previous administration, his government has not borrowed any money in the last nine months.

Governor Sani explained that the debt burden is significantly impacting the state’s Federal Allocation, with seven out of the N10 billion received in March being used to service the debt.

He also noted that the state was left with N3 billion, which is not enough to cover the N5.2 billion needed for salaries.

Despite these challenges, Governor Sani remains committed to steering Kaduna State towards progress and sustainable development.

The government is prioritizing key areas such as safety and security, housing, education, healthcare, and support for MSMEs.

Additionally, they are focusing on inclusive development by investing in human capital, stimulating the economy, and providing affordable housing.

The governor’s disclosure highlights the financial challenges faced by the state and the importance of finding innovative solutions to address the debt burden while still working towards the development and progress of Kaduna State.
