Voters across all 26 state constituencies in Ogun participated in the APC House of Assembly primaries on Wednesday. Party members began arriving at voting centres as early as 9 a.m., keen to participate in the direct ballot.

The exercise unfolded without incident throughout the state. Reports showed the voting was orderly, transparent and free from violence.

Governor Dapo Abiodun cast his vote at Ward 3, Iperu, in Ikenne Local Government Area. He spoke to journalists immediately after participating in the primary.

According to the governor, the primaries reflected genuine internal democracy within the party. He stressed that maintaining peace and harmony matters greatly as political activities intensify across Nigeria.

Abiodun commended delegates, party members and electoral officials for their conduct. He said their behaviour demonstrated the APC's maturity, unity and discipline in the state.

Seyi Olumuyiwa won the Ikenne contest decisively. The governor urged him to show grace in victory and represent constituents with quality and dedication.

Other aspirants deserve credit too, Abiodun noted. They accepted the party's consensus approach and displayed good sportsmanship throughout.

The APC remains united, he added. Members remain committed to strengthening democracy and delivering quality representation across board.

Abiodun also thanked security operatives and journalists. He credited them with helping ensure successful primaries since Saturday across the state.

His administration has transformed Ogun's political culture completely, he claimed. Thuggery and hooliganism no longer define politics in the state anymore.

Dr. Femi Akinbile, the APC Returning Officer for Ikenne, announced results after voting concluded.

A total of 830 party members received accreditation for the election in the area.

Olumuyiwa polled 825 votes to claim victory. This gave him an overwhelming mandate from voters present at the polling stations.

Dr. Akinbile praised voters for their discipline.

He said their orderly behaviour made the exercise smooth and seamless.

After his declaration as winner, Olumuyiwa thanked the governor personally. He promised to justify the confidence shown by delivering purposeful and inclusive representation.

Odeda Local Government Area also conducted its primary peacefully across 10 wards. Multiple polling units reported strong voter participation and enthusiasm.

Daisi Elemide, the Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, ran as the consensus candidate. He voted in Ward 1, Odeda, where he secured 2,115 votes.

Shuaib Afolabi Salisu participated in voting at Opeji Ward 10. He chairs the Senate Committee on ICT and Cybersecurity and voted alongside other party members.

Reports from Ward 10 confirmed peaceful voting conditions. The turnout there was impressive, with many party faithful showing up to exercise their democratic right.
