Gov Mbah’s NYSC Certificate Valid, Court Rules

The Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Nyang Ekwo, has affirmed that Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State obtained a valid NYSC certificate from the corps. The court ruled on Monday that the governor was mobilised for service in 2001 and completed it in 2003, with a break in between to attend the Nigeria Law School with the permission of NYSC.

The court also noted that the governor’s service at Udeh’s law firm was not disputed by NYSC and criticised the corps for not prosecuting the governor for forgery if they really believed that they did not issue the NYSC certificate to him.

The court accused NYSC of being mischievous and acting in bad faith by denying the governor’s NYSC certificate. The court found the Director General and the NYSC liable for misrepresentation of material facts and ordered them to pay N5 million in damages to the governor.
