The Peoples Democratic Party has cleared serving Senator Ibrahim Dankwambo to contest for another term. Dankwambo, a former Gombe governor, represents Gombe North in the upper chamber.

His clearance came through the party's screening committee ahead of 2027 elections. It positions him for the party's National Assembly primaries in the state.

Competition is heating up in Gombe North. Governor Muhammadu Yahaya of the APC has reportedly secured clearance to run for the same seat after his tenure ends.

A letter from PDP's Gombe State office confirmed the development. The correspondence went to the party's National Chairman via the National Organising Secretary.

Mohammed Dan'azumi Adamu chaired the screening panel. Musa Abubakar served as committee secretary, with Alhaji Adamu Abubakar as state secretary.

Three other Senate candidates got approval for the upper chamber races. Anthony Siyako Yaro was cleared for Gombe South, while Aliyu Hammadu secured clearance for Gombe Central.

House of Representatives candidates also made the list. Gidado Alhaji Lawanti got clearance for Akko Federal Constituency.

Mohammed Lamido was approved for Dukku/Nafada Federal Constituency. Dr Obed Paul Shehu won clearance for Kaltungo/Shongom Federal Constituency.

Dr Nasir Ibrahim got the nod for Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye. Shuaibu Umar Galadima was cleared for Yamaltu/Deba Federal Constituency.

Rambi Ibrahim Ayala rounded out the list. He secured clearance for Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency.

All candidates now advance to party primaries. Winners will represent PDP in the 2027 general elections.
