Gombe's Peoples Democratic Party officially presented its slate of candidates for the 2027 national elections on Thursday. All nine aspirants emerged through consensus at zonal party offices across the state.

Party officials confirmed the selections through a letter signed by screening committee chairman Mohammed Dan'azumi Adamu. It was addressed to the national leadership for final endorsement.

Senator Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo will fly the PDP flag in Gombe North. He's set for a rematch with Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, who secured the APC ticket.

Anthony Siyako Yaro retained the Gombe South senatorial nomination. Aliyu Abubakar Hammadu won the central district ticket.

Six House candidates also got affirmation across federal constituencies. Gidado Alhaji Lawanti takes the Akko seat.

Mohammed Lamido will contest in Dukku/Nafada. Shu'aibu Umar Galadima got the Yamaltu/Deba ticket.

Dr Nasir Ibrahim clinched Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye. He faces competition in what promises to be a tough race.

Kaltungo/Shongom will feature Dr. Obed Paul Shehu, the incumbent who recently switched from the APC.

Barr. Rambi Ibrahim Ayala was confirmed for Balanga/Billiri.

Party chairmen and state executives attended the ceremonies. Local government officials and community leaders also showed up.

According to our reporter, INEC officials watched the process unfold. They monitored compliance with party rules and electoral standards.

State Secretary Alhaji Adamu Abubakar and screening secretary Musa Shehu Abubakar signed off on the arrangements. The exercise concluded without major complications.

Political analysts say the consensus method prevented divisive primary contests. It's expected to unite party members for the 2027 polls.

Some observers, however, questioned whether the approach adequately represented grassroots voices. They argue internal democracy matters for party strength.

PDP stakeholders insist the candidates are formidable. They've pledged to campaign vigorously in coming months.

Dankwambo's nomination reignites the gubernatorial rivalry with Yahaya. Both men carry substantial political weight in the northern region.

Party sources say preparations for campaign activities begin next week. Training programs for agents are already being scheduled.
