Global Alliance for Women’s Health Aims to Boost Global Economy by $1 Trillion Annually

In a groundbreaking report released today, the World Economic Forum and the McKinsey Health Institute have revealed that addressing the women’s health gap could add at least $1 trillion to the global economy annually by 2040.

This significant economic boost would be achieved through improved health outcomes for women and a reduction in the time they spend in poor health.

The report, titled “Closing the Women’s Health Gap: A $1 Trillion Opportunity to Improve Lives and Economies,” highlights the fact that women spend 25% more of their lives in poor health than men.

The Global Alliance for Women’s Health, a multi-sector global platform, has been launched in response to these findings.

The alliance aims to bridge the gap in women’s health through a focus on three key pillars: financing, science and innovation, and agenda-setting.

The Global Alliance for Women’s Health has already garnered significant support, with 42 organizations expressing interest in joining the alliance.

These organizations include government leaders, private sector representatives, and philanthropic organizations.

Together, they have pledged $55 million in commitments to improve women’s health outcomes and shape a new future for women’s health across the world.

Key commitments include Tower Capital Group, an economic development and investment firm, launching a $100 million investment fund focused on women’s health.

Additionally, Organon, a global women’s health company, has pledged $25 million to support women’s health initiatives in low- and middle-income countries.

The potential economic impact of closing the women’s health gap is significant.

By investing in women’s health, we not only improve the lives of billions of women but also create a revolutionary economic boon for societies and economies as a whole.
