France and Spain meet in a World Cup semi-final on Tuesday at Dallas Stadium with a spot in the final on the line. The clash pits two of Europe's strongest sides against each other, and the winner will face either England or Argentina in the showdown.

These two nations have produced some of football's most thrilling contests in recent years. Little separates them in quality, so another gripping encounter looms.

France are chasing a third straight World Cup final appearance. Didier Deschamps' side has won all six matches so far, topping Group I before beating Sweden, Paraguay and Morocco in the knockout rounds.

In the quarter-finals, France defeated Morocco 2-0 despite Kylian Mbappe's missed penalty in the first half. Mbappe recovered to strike a brilliant opening goal and then set up Ousmane Dembele to clinch victory.

The French have also reached the last four in each of their previous four World Cups, winning three of those semi-finals without conceding. That streak gives them confidence heading into Dallas.

Spain are seeking their first World Cup final since winning the tournament in South Africa in 2010. Luis de la Fuente's reigning European champions have lost just once in 27 major tournament matches since 2018.

Spain reached the semi-finals by edging Belgium 2-1 in the quarter-finals. Teenage sensation Lamine Yamal played a crucial role despite scoring only once in the competition.

Recent head-to-head records offer no clear advantage to either team. France won 2-1 in the 2021 UEFA Nations League final when Mbappe scored the deciding goal after Karim Benzema equalized following Mikel Oyarzabal's opener.

Spain gained revenge in the Euro 2024 semi-finals with a 2-1 victory courtesy of strikes from Yamal and Dani Olmo. Randal Kolo Muani had given France an early lead in that match.

The sides met again in the 2025 UEFA Nations League semi-finals, where Spain won an extraordinary 5-4 thriller after nearly blowing a four-goal advantage. Drama has defined their recent matchups.

Tuesday's semi-final will also showcase two of world football's brightest talents. Mbappe leads the Golden Boot race with eight goals in the tournament, while Barcelona's Yamal has created chances consistently despite his single goal tally.

With both squads loaded with attacking prowess and a history of thrilling encounters, fans should expect another memorable contest as these rivals battle for a final spot.
