Former Senator Warns Against Looting Government Warehouses Amid Economic Hardship

Former federal lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, has cautioned residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, against looting government warehouses amidst the current economic hardship in Nigeria.

This warning comes after hoodlums invaded an Agric Department Strategic food store in Abuja’s Tasha area on Sunday, carting away food items and other valuables.

The FCT Police Command has arrested at least 15 suspects and recovered some of the stolen items.

There was also an attempt by hoodlums to raid a factory warehouse at the Idu Industrial District in Jabi, Abuja the same day.

In response to the incident, Senator Shehu took to his verified X account to urge the residents to stop the looting trend, stating, “My dear Abuja residents, why did you invade and loot the government food warehouse. Don’t repeat it, please.”

The looting incidents can be attributed to the growing frustration and anger among the Nigerian population as they grapple with the economic hardship that has left many struggling to meet their basic needs.

The government is now facing increased pressure to address the issue of food security and find a solution to the current economic crisis.

As the situation continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how the government will respond to the warning from Senator Shehu and the growing unrest among the Nigerian population.
