The FCT High Court of Justice has ruled that the former CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, should be released immediately and without any conditions from the EFCC’s detention.
The ruling came after Emefiele filed an urgent motion, asking for his freedom until the main motion is heard and decided.
Justice O.A. Adeniyi granted the motion after listening to Emefiele’s arguments.
The respondents in this case are the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the AGF, the EFCC Chairman, and the EFCC itself.
The court order has the following main points: Immediate and Unconditional Release: The court directed the EFCC Chairman and the EFCC to let Emefiele go from their custody right away. If they fail to do so, they have to bring him to court on the day of the hearing of the main motion, where he may be given bail by the court.
On the hearing of the main motion, the court fixed the date for the hearing of the main motion for Monday, November 6, 2023, at 1 p.m.
