Food Looting: Police and NEMA Tighten Security at Warehouses and Malls

In response to the recent incidents of food looting and potential threats to government facilities, both the Lagos State Police Command and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) have stepped up security measures to protect warehouses and shopping malls across the country.

The Lagos State Police Command has deployed plain-clothes policemen to keep a close watch on shopping malls and key government installations in the state.

The Rapid Response Squad, an anti-crime squad, has also been directed to monitor government warehouses and shopping centers where food and beverages are sold.

The move is to prevent any possible attack by miscreants who may take advantage of the current hardship and hunger in the country.

In a similar vein, the NEMA’s South West Territorial Coordinator, Ibrahim Farinloye, said that all critical stakeholders are on standby for any attempt by anyone to break into government facilities.

Though there aren’t any food items in the warehouses, precautionary security measures have been put in place to protect both human and other assets of the federal government from any unforeseen circumstance.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, exclusively disclosed this to our correspondent, emphasizing that the command is alive to its responsibility of providing security for all and sundry.

Though they do not anticipate such attacks, these proactive measures are being taken to check any act of violence in the state.

Both the Lagos State Police Command and NEMA are taking necessary steps to ensure the safety and security of government facilities and shopping complexes in Nigeria.

The authorities are determined to prevent any possible attack by hoodlums and are on high alert to maintain law and order in the region.
