Fire sweeps through IDP camp in Borno, leaving two dead and over a thousand homes in ashes.

A raging inferno engulfed the Muna Alamdari IDP camp in Maiduguri, claiming two lives and destroying over a thousand homes. The fire started around dawn and raged for more than an hour before it was subdued by the combined efforts of fire fighters, IDPs, security forces, and kind-hearted volunteers.

The head of the State Emergency Management Agency, Dr. Barkindo Muhammad, said on Wednesday in Maiduguri that the agency was assessing the extent of the damage and providing immediate relief to the affected IDPs.

He said the agency was distributing 500 bags of rice, blankets, and other essentials to ease their plight.
