A trailer has crushed Ismail Abdulkarim to death in Lokoja. The final-year student had just finished his exams at Kogi State College of Health Sciences and Technology, Idah.
The accident happened Friday afternoon near Felele, opposite Kogi State Polytechnic. Witnesses say Abdulkarim tried dodging wheelbarrow pushers on the road.
He fell under the speeding trailer and suffered a fatal head injury. Death came instantly, according to someone at the scene.
Abdulkarim had arrived in Lokoja from Idah after completing his final examinations. He was heading to visit relatives across the city when the tragedy struck.
A fellow student paid tribute to him in emotional words. "You finished your exams and went to see your family, but your life ended there," the classmate wrote.
He continued: "We all wrote exams together today. Now you're gone from us and the Community Health Department forever."
The National Association of Kogi State Students called his death heartbreaking. Student leaders described the loss as deeply painful for their community.
Hassan Mustapha, NAKOSS president at the college, remembered Abdulkarim with praise. "He was dedicated, humble, peaceful, and very promising," Mustapha noted.

Federal Road Safety Corps sector commander Lawal Fagge confirmed the incident. The collision happened at 5:28 p.m. on Friday.
A truck bearing registration KMC 23 YQ was involved in the crash. Officers documented the vehicle details for their investigation.
Abdulkarim suffered multiple injuries including severe head trauma. Medical personnel transported him to Federal Teaching Hospital, Lokoja.
Authorities have ordered an autopsy to determine the exact cause. The body remained at the hospital for examination and documentation.
