FG Declares Friday March 29 and Monday April 1 Public Holidays for Easter 2024

In celebration of Easter 2024, the Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Friday, March 29 and Monday, April 1 as public holidays to mark Good Friday and Easter Monday respectively.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government.

In his statement, Dr. Tunji-Ojo emphasized the importance of Easter beyond its religious significance, highlighting the values of love, forgiveness, and compassion that it promotes.

He urged Christians and all Nigerians to embrace these virtues, as they are essential for social cohesion and harmony in the country.

The Minister further called on Nigerians to demonstrate acts of charity and generosity to help alleviate the material conditions of the less privileged.

He stressed that such actions align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu, who is determined to bring sustainable development and prosperity to all Nigerians.

As the Easter celebrations approach, Dr. Tunji-Ojo wished Christians at home and abroad a happy and blissful holiday, and encouraged all Nigerians to join hands with the President Tinubu-led administration in its efforts to foster unity, reduce conflicts, and encourage cooperation among the people.
