Feeling fine after private jet crash, says Minister of Power, Adelabu

Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, assured the public of his safety after a plane crash near the Ladoke Akintola Airport in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Friday.

A source close to the minister told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ibadan that Adelabu was not shaken by the incident and was in good spirits.

The minister and some of his aides were on board a private aircraft that crash-landed near the airport on Friday evening.

”The minister is not bothered by the incident. He considers it a minor issue, and that is his attitude towards it,” an aide of Adelabu, who preferred anonymity, said.

The aide also told NAN that the minister was not concerned by the incident because none of the passengers sustained any injuries.

”Everyone on board the aircraft when the incident happened came out without any problem, and we have no reason to worry,” the aide said.

The aircraft had left Abuja for Ibadan but landed about 50 metres short of the runway and slid into a ditch near the runway.

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau, NSIB, said in a statement on Saturday that it had started investigating the cause of the incident.

“On the accident involving an aircraft operated by Flint Aero that occurred at the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport in Ibadan, please be informed that the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has begun investigating the cause.

“Our investigators are on the scene, and more information will be provided as soon as possible,” NSIB said in the statement issued by its Director, Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Dr. James Odaudu.
