Federal Government Takes Action to Fix Ports Road: Oyetola’s Update on Progress

The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, has provided an update on the Federal Government’s efforts to fix the failed portions of ports access roads.

This comes two months after Oyetola reached out to the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, to address the issue.

According to Oyetola, the rehabilitation of the Tin-Can Port access road has been completed, and the ministry is now focusing on the access roads to other ports in the country.

In addition to the Tin-Can Port, the ministry has also awarded a contract for the rehabilitation of the access road to Lagos Port Complex in Lagos State, and the contractor is expected to mobilize to the site soon.

Furthermore, the contract for the reconstruction of the access road to Onne Port in Rivers State is currently being processed and is expected to be awarded in the near future.

The Federal Ministry of Works understands the socio-economic importance of these roads leading to the ports in Nigeria and has taken proactive steps to address the issue.

Oyetola commended the proactive measures taken by the Works Minister and expressed gratitude for his contribution to improving the Ease of Doing at the country’s ports.

He emphasized that once the dilapidated port access roads are fixed, importers and exporters will no longer experience high transportation costs, prolonged transit times, and heightened risk of accidents.

The Federal Government is actively working to fix the ports road, and significant progress has been made.

With the completion of the Tin-Can Port access road and the ongoing work on other ports, Nigeria’s foreign investment is expected to increase, and the country’s international trade competencies will be enhanced.
