Former Ekiti governor Ayo Fayose believes President Tinubu has done his utmost on security. Speaking to Channels Television, Fayose traced Nigeria's worsening insecurity back to Muhammadu Buhari's administration.
Fayose argued that Tinubu is being manipulated through the security crisis as 2027 approaches. He said the president inherited severe damage from his predecessor.
"President Tinubu may not be perfect, but he has given his best," Fayose noted. According to him, conditions were far worse when Buhari left office.
Fayose added that Tinubu took the security challenges personally out of respect for northerners. He compared the situation to what Jonathan faced before leaving power in 2015.
"When Jonathan was about to leave office, he was blackmailed in the same way through insecurity," the former governor told the television station. He believes political opponents are using the current security situation as a weapon against Tinubu.
