Emir of Kano Urges Traders to Lower Food Prices Ahead of Ramadan 2024

The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado-Bayero, has made a heartfelt appeal to traders of essential commodities to reduce the cost of foodstuffs and other goods in the lead-up to Ramadan 2024.

The royal father’s call aims to ease the burden on the masses during the holy month, allowing them to observe Ramadan with relative ease.

The Emir made this plea during the launch of a book titled “Dauloli a Kasar Hausa,” or “Kingdoms in Hausaland,” authored by Prof. Sa’idu-Mohammed Gusau.

The event took place in Zaria, where the Emir commended the book’s detailed insights into the Hausa kingdoms in Kano, Katsina, Zamfara, Kebbi, and Zazzau.

Prof. Ahmed Zaria of the Kaduna State University, who reviewed the 356-page book, highlighted the seven chapters that provide a clear narrative and history of the Hausa kingdoms, their politics, administration, norms, and values.

He emphasized the importance of the book as a must-have for students and researchers in linguistics and history.

In addition to his appeal for lower food prices, the Emir also encouraged wealthy Nigerians to help the less privileged during the sacred month.

He prayed that God Almighty would protect the people’s lives, allowing them to witness Ramadan in sound health and accept their prayers and sacrifices.

Prof. Gusau, the book’s author, explained that “Kingdoms in Hausaland” is an attempt to harmonize the written history of Hausa Kingdoms and support unity and harmony among the Hausa people and other Nigerians.

He urged academics not to abandon research, even after reaching the professorial level.

As the holy month of Ramadan approaches, the Emir’s call for lower food prices serves as a timely reminder for the community to come together and support one another during this sacred time.
