Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai appeared in court today. The Independent Corrupt Practices Commission charged him with fraud linked to a surveillance contract.

El-Rufai faced the Federal High Court in Kaduna on multiple counts. Justice Hauwa'u Buhari presided over the proceedings in the case marked FHC/KD/93C/2026.

Six others joined him in the dock. They include his former aide Jimi Adebisi Lawal and five companies accused of corruption and money laundering.

The firms named are Singularity Network Security Limited, Solar Life Nigeria Limited, Knowledge Investment Nigeria Limited, Intercellular Nigeria Limited, and Noble Coast Resources Limited. Each faces allegations of financial misconduct and improper dealings.

Authorities also mentioned El-Rufai's brother, Bashir El-Rufai, in the charges. He remains at large, according to investigators.

The ICPC alleges El-Rufai approved a contract while governor. It was supposedly worth N8.68 billion for CCTV installation across Kaduna.

Singularity Network Security Limited won the tender, prosecutors claim. Yet the company lacked the technical know-how to handle such work, the commission argued.

The contract covered procurement, survey planning, design, and installation of the surveillance system. Over eight billion naira went into the project, the ICPC stated.

An 11-count amended charge was filed against all defendants. Court proceedings continue as investigations deepen.
