Ekiti governor’s wife seeks patronage for indigenous artisans

By Bolanle Lawal

Wife of Ekiti Governor, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji, has appealed to local contractors and other well-to-do individuals to patronise indigenous artisans in the state to discourage capital flight.

The governor’s wife made the call in Ado-Ekiti while receiving members the state chapters of Caterers’ Association of Nigeria and women wing of All Farmers’ Association of Nigeria (AFAN).

She said that giving jobs to outsiders could have negative effects on the state’s economy, adding that this could be prevented if the caterers and other artisans within the state were put into consideration.

Oyebanji assured the two groups of government’s commitment to their welfare and that of the people of the state.

She promised to be one of the major promoters of the women farmers and ensure that they were captured in the various agricultural policies and programmes of the state government.

Earlier, Chairperson of caterers’ association, Mrs Stella Abiodun-Akinola, expressed members’ commitment to the present administration.

She solicited for more synergy with government in order to further enhance the ongoing all-round development in the state.

Similarly, Leader of women farmers, Mrs Omolola Pereao, called for security of farmers to reduce herdsmen’s invasion on farms and empowerment of members to achieve their set objectives.

Pereao promised that the association would continue to maintain its standard and contribute its quota to the economic development of the state.
