In a significant step towards the upcoming 2024 Edo State gubernatorial election, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has begun the screening process for seven out of the ten party aspirants vying for the position.

This crucial phase of the electoral process will determine the eligibility of the candidates to represent the party in the election.

The screening exercise, which is being conducted by the party’s screening committee, aims to ensure that all candidates meet the necessary criteria and are in compliance with the party’s guidelines and regulations.

The committee will scrutinize the aspirants’ credentials, background, and track record to ensure that they are fit to represent the party in the gubernatorial race.

Among the seven aspirants being screened are prominent party members and seasoned politicians, including former council chairman John Yakubu and former NBA President Olumide Akpata.

The remaining three aspirants are expected to undergo the screening process in the coming days.

The Edo State gubernatorial election is set to be a hotly contested race, with the PDP determined to regain control of the state after losing it to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the previous election.

The screening process is a crucial step in the party’s efforts to select a strong and capable candidate who can lead them to victory in the 2024 election.

As the screening process continues, the people of Edo State eagerly await the announcement of the party’s final candidate, as they look forward to a competitive and fair election in 2024.
