Edo Guber: APC National Chairman Cancels Primary Results Amid Bribery Allegations

The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman Umar Ganduje cancelled the Edo State governorship primary results on Tuesday, declaring the exercise inconclusive over an alleged bribe.

The primary was meant to pick the party’s candidate for the September election.

According to sources, the decision to cancel the results came after investigations revealed that the primary election committee chairman, Governor Hope Uzodinma, allegedly received a substantial bribe to influence the outcome of the primary.

In response, the APC National Working Committee (NWC) swiftly replaced Governor Uzodinma with Governor Abdullahi Ganduje to oversee a new primary election.

The APC National Chairman, in a press statement, expressed his disappointment with the turn of events and emphasized the party’s commitment to free and fair elections. He stated, “The APC will not tolerate any form of electoral malpractice, and we will ensure that the Edo State governorship primary is conducted in a transparent and credible manner.”

The Edo State governorship election is a critical event for the APC, as it seeks to maintain its foothold in the region.

The party’s decision to cancel the results and conduct a new primary election has been met with mixed reactions from the public, with some praising the move as a step towards ensuring the integrity of the electoral process, while others criticized it as a sign of internal disarray within the party.

As the new primary election date approaches, all eyes are on the APC to see if they can successfully navigate this controversy and select a candidate who can represent the party’s values and vision for the future of Edo State.
