Ebonyi Re-run: PDP chieftain applauds security personnel, electorate for hitch-free polls

Rep Sylvester Ogbaga (PDP-Ebonyi) has applauded the electorate in Abakaliki North Constituency on peaceful conduct of Saturday’s supplementary poll in the Ebonyi.

Ogbaga made the commendation on Sunday, while interacting with newsmen on the conduct of the exercise.

The chieftain also commended the security personnel for securing lives and property during the polls.

INEC had declared a rerun of election in some polling units in the state that were marred by irregularities.

The lawmaker further expressed optimism that Mr Victor Nwoke, Candidate of the PDP, would win in the poll.

According to him, “I have confidence in the yet-to-be-determined outcome of the election due to the overwhelming support from people of Abakaliki North, state constituency to PDP.

“I appreciate the people of Abakaliki north, they are part of my constituents.

“Another aspect of the joy is that the exercise was done peacefully and will of the people is prevailed.

“It is democracy, the will of the people must excel and their votes will count; I am happy and proud of our Candidate,” Ogbaga said.

Nwoke promised to address grievances of his constituents, if  he emerged winner.

He commended INEC, security agencies for the general conduct of elections.

“I am overwhelmed by the support from the electorate,” Nwoke said.
